DO YOU CREATE TIME FOR LEISURE?

With family, job and household responsibilities, leisure time is a luxury for many of us. You can learn to enjoy your leisure time by organising it, learning to say no and yes when necessary, deciding what you like to do and making specific plans for enjoyment and relaxation.

Organise Your Time.

If you have a limited amount of free time each week, it makes sense to organise what you have so that you can more time to fully enjoy it. Instead of letting household chores drag out over the weekend, try taking care of them first thing, especially things you don't like to do. You might find that you better enjoy your leisure time when you can devote yourself to it.

Learn To Say No.

If you find it hard to get time for yourself, learn to say no to others who make demands on your time. We often feel that we must always yield to the cravings and demands of loved ones, if what they require you to do for them conflicts with your leisure time, please tell them no and make them understand your unavailability at that time.

Make A List.

Do you have a list of things you'd do if you had time? Would you like to read a good book, learn a new skill or get interested in a hobby? By making a list of things you enjoy doing, you might likely think more about how you can control your time and indulge in things that interest you.

Be Spontaneous.

Your whole life as been boringly predictable by living a life where everything is outlined or planned. Being spontaneous is being active; start slow. Mix your pattern a little bit based on your changeable routines, take a different route to work. Call a friend and meet for drinks downtown. Reconnect with old friends/school mates. Spontaneity involves embracing mysteries; follow your cravings, make immediate plans, take a trip. It doesn't have to be expensive, it could be a neighbouring town.

Yours Truly.
